REPORTABLE CONDUCT INVESTIGATION

WHAT IS A
REPORTABLE
CONDUCT
INVESTIGATION?

A Reportable Conduct Investigation is a specialised
investigation conducted under the principles put forward
by the Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP) under the Reportable Conduct Scheme.

Like Formal Workplace Investigations, a Reportable
Conduct Investigation is also an information
gathering process which makes findings of facts
determined on the ‘balance of probabilities’ about
the allegations examined. At times, organisations may
receive reports of alleged reportable
conduct committed by a worker or volunteer.

Reportable Conduct as noted by CCYP is categorised
into the following five types:

  • Sexual offences
(against, with or in the presence of, a child)
  • Sexual misconduct
(against, with or in the presence of, a child)
  • Physical violence
(against, with or in the presence of, a child)
  • Behaviour that causes significant
    emotional or psychological harm
  • Significant neglect

Once an Acquire HR consultant is appointed, we conduct interviews with relevant parties and source any other evidence related to the allegations.

Your Head of Organisation or principal officer will remain the contact for CCYP reporting and updates, and will liaise with them directly.

We examine and assess all evidence collected and a Reportable Conduct Investigation Report is prepared and submitted to you directly, detailing the conduct of the investigation and any findings made. This report is presented in line with CCYP requirements including the types of findings able to be made on the ‘balance of probabilities’.

If you instruct us to, Acquire HR can also incorporate additional commentary on whether or not any substantiated ‘conduct outside the scheme’ amounts to breaches of organisational policy or procedure.
